A Small Haven in Eastern Connecticut
A Small Haven in Eastern Connecticut
Then & Now ...
First built in 1729 and owned by the Brewster family of Boston, MA. Our story begins as a colonial homestead with a Cape house, outbuildings, and an orchard. Changing hands over the centuries, the farm has always maintained working farm status and participated in its local community, a tradition we feel honored to uphold.
The property has undergone very minimal adaptation over the years; much of its land and structures exist nearly as they did since the 18th century. Today, we are working to slowly restore, preserve, and protect this historical property.
While segments of the land are utilized for livestock, a majority of the property has been rewilded, letting the animals and the land teach us what it needs. Through outreach and research, we aim to cultivate a haven for native species of plant and animal life.
Brewster Farm is an organization dedicated to charitable community outreach, educational programs, animal sanctuary, and historical preservation. Conserving land and wildlife through outreach, restoration, and research, and offering a space for community and education through programming, and maintaining and bettering the health of the working farm for the benefit and longevity of the animals who call it home.
